Does postal rule apply to acceptance and revocation

Also does postal rule apply to offer.

Also is postal rule extended to e-mails and telephone calls, fax etc.

In the case of telephone calls, does the acceptance become valid when the recipient is phoned for accepting the offer regardless of whether he received and/or responded to the call or not.

Postal rule applies ONLY to acceptance

How can postal rule apply to telephone calls! If you leave a message on an answerphone, that would be effective when the answerphone message is heard by the offeror

Acceptance by telex is effective when printed out on the offeror’s telex machine

Acceptance by email is from when that email is received and not when the email is sent

I have a suspicion that ACCA has removed postal acceptance from the syllabus and, in fact, a look through the detailed syllabus for the law exam to August 2020 reveals no mention of postal rule

If, however, it is still within the syllabus (and, I repeat, I cannot find it in there!) the extent of knowledge required is limited to …

    – properly stamped and addressed
    – put into the postal system through proper channels
    – must be a considered to be a reasonable medium of communication of acceptance in the contemplation of both the offeree and, crucially, the offeror

    OK?
