The main forms of tax evasion are: Suppressing (concealing) information Submitting false information In the study text understating income is considered as suppressing information and claiming false expenses is considered as false information. My confusion is “Understating income essentially means stating less income and claiming false expenses means overstating expenses, so both of these should be considered as false information.”
May I advise you to get away from worrying about precise definitions as per your questions which will not be an issue in the exam – you need to get into learning about the individual taxes – move to chapter 2 and focus on the content and rules governing the preparation of the various tax computations – as I stated in the introductory lectures.
