From my perspective, time management is key to passing the P1 paper.
I passed after a few attempts and on each occasion, even when I passed, I ran out of time. The general advice is to review all 60 questions quickly which should take about 15 mins. In this first review, you want to answer all the quick multiple-choice questions (i.e. select 2-3 from 5 options) and any straightforward risk type questions (maximax, minimax regret). Don’t spend too much time deliberating, select your best answer and move on. From there you want to answer the questions you know (ABC, Variance Analysis, Budgeting) and that you know roughly how long they take to complete (2-3 minutes). After the second review, you should be left with maybe up to 10 questions which are the difficult questions to answer. Essentially, as the questions are random, what you are trying to do is answer questions from the easiest to the most difficult.
In summary, try the following tips:
– Know the Kaplan textbook as best you can as it covers the likely questions.
– Use the Kaplan aptitude questions as exam practice.
– Practice time management in your mocks. - AuthorPosts
