Hello-
Clearly I underestimated the difficult of ACCA exams and have signed up for 4 exams- F4, F5, F6 and F7. I have exemptions from F1, F2 AND F3. But I remember very little from these courses which I took over a decade ago.
I have been studying 5-6 hours day and have BPP books and had a total of 45 days to prepare. My problem is that I am simply unable to go through everything in text books.
If one were to rely completely on these lectures, is it reasonable to expect a passing grade in these exams? The texts are a lot more detailed and I wonder, if it’s worth reading over 500 pages?
I am about to ditch the texts for lectures on this site. My goal is to finish all the lectures by 15th of this month and spend last two weeks to revise and spend about 6-8 hours a day.
Any suggestions on this game plan?
like it has been said many times, use study text as a reference – if you need more details, or still do not understand something..
you should 1) download the course notes and go through them by watching all available lectures
2) when you covered certain topic and you think you understand it well, start doing past exam questions (from revision kit/or acca website) and see if you can implement what you have learnt ..you see, students who attend real lectures – rarely read the whole text book!
because it is only a month till the exam you should now really concentrate on doing past exam questionsand considering, you have already doubts – 4 exams seems like too many.. especially that you have never sat any real acca exam before..
anyways, I hope other students will reply. to your post, I was only giving you my thoughts.
Thank you for your response. I actually was reading the first two chapters of Performance Management text of BPP and it isn’t engaging at all. For the purposes of F5, I am set in my mind that it’s doable to pass exams through watching lectures alone. I have gone through 7 chapters and it’s be a breeze. Text book is another story.
I look forward to any other suggestions. But, for the purposes of at least F5, I am strictly relying on these lectures and taking your advice on past exam questions.
What I tend to do is watch the lectures on large areas such as linear programming then read the chapters for the easier sections then follow it up with a few questions to see if I understand it (such as environmental accounting)

Tony- That sounds like a good strategy. I think perfromance management is an easier paper for native English speakers. I appreciate that global passing rates are quite low, but that figure is distorted due to language barrier that many foreign student face.
In my postgraduate courses, there were many Chinese students, who were brilliant in numerical subjects but struggled in written papers.Surely, this is a major disadvantage in written portion of any exam.
