The Law paper (no longer referred to as F4) has no direct links to any other paper that you will come across in your ACCA studies!
How to prepare?
I doubt very much that many other tutors would instantly recommend that you save your money and do not buy a study text! They are long and very heavy going … so much so that they could well leave you clinging on to a desperate will to live!
But you MUST buy a revision kit / exam kit from one of the approved publishers. Should you happen to choose BPP as your approved publisher, you could take advantage of the 20% discount available if you place your order through the OpenTuition website – click on the yellow box atbthebtop of this page and just follow the instructions
Now, the advice!
Read the course notes – front to back – just read. Don’t learn, memorise or try to cost to memory. Just read. 2 hours from start to finish
They won’t make much sense first time through but become clearer as you make more progress. Watch the video lectures. Then read the notes again
Now open a revision kit and start answering questions. Do NOT write your attempts in the book itself – a separate piece of paper is needed
Just an hour of practice questions will do
You will almost certainly struggle to score 20% in this first effort
Read the notes again and watch the lectures again
Then try those same questions again and score maybe 40%
Read the notes again and watch those lectures again
Then try those same questions again
You should be scoring over 60% this time
Fourth repetition? 80%
Fifth? 90% and on we go, higher and higher
A revision kit has hundreds of exam standard questions and, in the words of a Mexican / American golfer, “The more you practice, the luckier you get”
Question practice – e n d l e s s l o n g h o u r s of question practice and you’ll be tackling the Performance Management paper before you know it
And, whenever you hit a problem, post your question on the Ask ACCA Tutor forum. That way I am guaranteed to see your question and I shall reply (I don’t always see posts in this general forum!)
OK?
