In working 5A, the answer given by o.t. for share of post acq ret’d was $5,250 but . .shouldn’t it have been 35% of 18-3 plus 2 (share capital) thereby giving a figure of $5,950 and in turn a total of $25,950?
When calculating share of post-acq retained, why on this Earth would I want to include within the calculation of “share of POST-ACQ RETAINED” a share of “Share Capital”?????
IF ( and I’m not ) I wished to calculate a share of “Net Assets”, that’s a different matter!
Incidentally, if you insist on using $25,950 as the figure for Investment in Associate, what sort of balancing adjustment do you intend to incorporate into your answer to make the Balance Sheet balance?
