I thought it is good to share my experience with kaplan text books. it may help anyone of you.
Kaplan textbook is written by expert tutors and solutions are superior quality. They give only essential points on each examinable topics. only selected topics ae given illustration or an expanable text. Most of the test your understanding(TYU) question we may not able to do it at first attempt. but they make us to think a lot. they dont rely on sea of words to impart knowledge. When you read a chapter all examinable points on chapter is listed in kaplan text with complementary illustration or explanation. so you can study most basic concept very fast. they follow a pattern. usually, last 1 or2 qn(TYU or eg) would be exam standard. so if you do that question you get the idea of what type of question would come for exam from that topic. so helpful for student if they are curious to know, what type of question is likely to come for exam.
always look for heading , if possible write down headings alone in a chapter, that headings alone can speak to you a lot. it is good to read 2 or 3 times a chapter make it thorough. studying from textbook alone wont finish your study. you have to complement it with kaplan revision kit. many issues they discuss in revision kit which they didnt discuss it in study text. In BPP , all points they discuss in study text alone and also sometimes quite irrelevant topics they discuss in length. so, if you compare study text alone, bpp is discussing more points. But kaplan study text and revision kit would cover all examinable topic.
In my opinion , kaplan is ACCA bible. Those who love to read and read , BPP is best. i really like their style of writing. it is superior. but if i want to know what is examinable topics (most relevant ones) and questions, i would have to go back to kaplan.
Techincal articles from ACCA is good complementary stuff.
OT lectures and lecturers are really helpful.
Best of wishes to all of you for your next exams.
