    Dear Professor,,

First thanks so much for you & opentuition to give me the chance of learning for free. Second, my question is:

Should the auditor issue the “Statement of Circumstances” when he wants to resign from the client + when he wants to stay with the client for a next year? Or just he wants to resign from the client?

If it is for both together, why it must be issued if he wants to stay with the client for a next year?

    Thanks So Much,,,

If you download the AA notes pdf you will find that you can search on key terms such as “statement of circumstances”. Pages 16/17 make it clear that this statement is required when the auditor resigns or is removed from office.

Is the statement of circumstances = professional clearance?

NO – completely different – one is a LEGAL requirement, the other a PROFESSIONAL requirement.

In ENG law (for example) “Auditors can resign by giving written notice and a statement of circumstances to the company” – see first line of s.3 on page 18 of the notes and read there for more details.

“Professional clearance” – which you should be aware is a MISNOMER – see s.3 on page 46 is a professional requirement that applies regardless of the reason for a change in appointment (does not have to be resignation of previous auditor).
