In the following question, statement 1 seems to be correct because it could be the case that the dots plotted on a scatter graph have correlation coefficient of 1 and hence such an equation can be written for such a graph. On the other hand, if there is no correlation then an equation can’t be written. Also, is it true that an equation can be written if there is some degree of correlation or not. Further, I think that statement one could have been false if the word always was present in it, otherwise the statement one is correct. So are both statement one and two true in the following question
Question: Is each of the following statements about scatter diagrams true or false?
1)Scatter diagrams are graphs which show equations.
2) The x axis on a scatter diagram is used to represent the independent variable.
