Hi,
I would like to know what are the best option papers to take if i want to work in investment banking ? Also, i heard that AAA is compulsory to be auditor and ATX is a must to gain a practising certificate. Is it true ? I don’t know yet which career i want to pursue.According to the ACCA’s website, you do not need to sit for ATX in order to get the practicing certificate or the audit qualification (link included below). You do need to pass however the UK variants of LW, TX, SBR and AAA. I even called them a few months back and they confirmed that there is no need to sit for ATX in order to get those two licenses. I am not sure how you can structure this but I would definitely sit for UK AAA and SBR just to get the license.
Now for Investment Banking, I think it’s best to check the syllabus of these papers (AAA and ATX) to see which covers most concepts and then decide. Both tax and finance play an important role in deals but its best to check what each paper teaches and then decide. I haven’t checked the ATX syllabus myself but AFM covers topics such as LBOs (at least that’s what I read) which are very relevant to Investment Banking.

https://opentuition.com/topic/option-papers-3/All the optional papers are suitable for ANY and EVERY industry sector. Now it comes down to the department in which you wish to work in or the role you plan to apply for and its requirements in terms of qualification and education.
If you want to work in the tax department then ATX would more appropriate in this case. And the same thing goes for the other departments.
But @delamanisp has rightly mentioned, it would be wise to give a look at the syllabus. Or maybe recollect what you have studied in the Fundamental Level papers.Also in terms of deciding which career you would want to pursue, don’t worry about it. I believe it is better to think about that pass to get the qualification. What I mean to say, choose the subject which you believe have more chances of achieving the pass you can decide about your career path later because the current priority is to become ACCA qualified.

Just to make a note of, the ACCA practising certificate and audit qualification is only available to members wishing to be responsible for audit work in the UK (including Channel Islands and Isle of Man), Ireland or Zimbabwe.
