when we perform analytical procedures for audit procedures,

is it better off to say

Number 1 ” Perform analytical procedures from the past sales report e.g 5 years to confirm the recent trend and gauge the consistency of donation expenditure”

    or

Number 2 “Analyze the recent trend from past sales report e.g 5 years to confirm the consistency of donation expenditure”

May i know if both of them are acceptable ? and if possible which one sounds better ?

If responding to a requirement for procedures it really doesn’t matter if you say “Analyse …” “Compare … ” or “Perform a test in total/reasonableness test …” all will be recognised by the marker. See at the end of Q3(a) of S18 a good example of referencing “perform analytical procedures” as an introduction to a list of things to be reviewed.

While on this topic please note also in S18 Q1 for example – the requirement is “use analytical procedures”. So here you just “do” it i.e. calculate and explain selected ratios.
