    Dear all,

could you please help me with the following question?

I would like to know, whether it is acceptable to use a color highlighter (e.g. yellow) to mark key points on your question paper (and the question paper only)?

I know we are expected to use only black ballpoint pen on the answer booklet.
I have just come accross a technical article concerning one of the exams, which advises the participant to bring a highlighter.

Do you happen to know, if it is acceptable to have one during your exam? It would be quite helpful to mark the key points on the question paper (case study), however I don’t want to lose any marks/have trouble for that.

    Thanks a lot

Highlighted can only be used to annotate the question paper not answer booklet.

The booklet is electronically marked & only reads black ink so cannot be read if obscured by coloured highlighter ink.

Points will be picked up provided clearly laid out in clear & concise paragraphs without the need to flag this to the markers.

Yes it’s acceptable and within the rules, I did this for all P level exams. When you have a big scenario it helps a lot to mark key points you will be referring to in your answer. The question papers are kept by ACCA afterwards and won’t be re-used so there’s no harm in marking them.
