    Hi guys,

    I’m going to sit P1 exam in June 2012 and thus i think it’s a good idea to organise study sessions in OT chat room for this subject.

    I think we’ll gather once a week.
    I propose Thursdays , timing either 5:30 or 6:30 pm uk.

    You say?

    anyone interested ? πŸ™‚

    Alright!

    thank you for your interest. Hopefully later on, some more people will show their interest.

    But look , we need to discuss timing :
    is 5:30 pm UK each Thursday is okay for you? Or it’s too early …or too late.
    We all live in different time zones, so having timing that is convenient for everyone is crucial.
    Plus, i was talking about this thursday. That means in 3 days.
    We can have introductory session if u feel it’s too quick to prepare some chapters for discussion.
    So u say πŸ™‚

    @asima,

    Well, the length of session depends on how well people are prepared and the difficulty of topic being discussed.
    Ideally it should last an hour and a half, but sometimes it might become longer.

    @sohah6996,

    That’s a cool reply πŸ™‚
    Well in case if timing is not convenient it’s a good idea to say which timing is convenient.

    Otherwise all chat histories will be uploaded in a separate topic and available to everyone.

    @ Ansi,

    Thanks for your quick reply. 5:30 PM at UK time means 12:30 at Toronto time. I can join anytime at evening (after 6:30, toronto time) and weekend.

    I really appreciate your initiative.

    @sohan6996,

    Ok, that means that you won’t be able to join sessions as unfortunately my weekend is reserved for F9.

    Well, thank you for letting me know.
    Then , you will be able to read chat histories and post all the questions at forum.

    As no one except sohan informed me that timing is not convenient,
    then preliminary our sessions will take place each Thursday at 5:30 pm UK time.
    Later on i might change it to 6 or 6:30 , we’ll see.

    So our first session will take place this Thursday 12th January 2012 at 5:30 pm uk time.
    We will make introduction, discuss all the questions about the paper that you have.
    And we can start to approach subject, say by discussing first 2 topics.

    We will follow ACCA syllabus for P1, which can be downloaded here:
    https://www2.accaglobal.com/pubs/students/acca/exams/p1/syllabus/p1_syllabus2012.pdf

    first two topics are :
    1. The scope of Governance
    2. Agency relationships and theories.

    For the moment we will study from 2011 books, but our goal is to get 2012 books as soon as we can.
    I never follow just one book, but it’s up to you to decide which books to follow.
    I will just note that apart from using BPP or Kaplan, we always have access to variety of free resources, such as : Open tuition, EXP group and Emile Wolf.

    If you have any suggestions or ideas please feel free to share here.
    It’s our common job to make these sessions beneficial for all of us.

    regards,
    ansi

    @samia
    thank you for your interest and this note.

    Of course i meant thursday 12th january.
    I cannot start sessions earlier, because of my working hours.
    The earliest i can do is 5pm uk time on weekdays. But that’s not convenient for those located in UK.

    we shall see comments of other people about timing as for the moment not many people seems to be unhappy about time.
    I hope time that is conveninet for everyone will be found.

    P.S. For everyone
    Here is our schedule :
    https://opentuition.com/groups/p1-professional-accountant/forum/topic/p1-group-study-sessions-%e2%80%93-june-2012/

    It will be updated regularly with timing of sessions and topics to be discussed.

    6 or 6.30pm would suit me better, 7 or 7.30 would be even better again. Missed it the last couple of weeks cos by the time I get to sit down at the laptop at 7.30pm it’s over, if it started later at least i’d catch some of it @ansi
