well it was alright i suppose i did find that the time was a restraint, i lost out on 9 easy marks on the corporation tax vat question. part c and d.
all in all if i pass i will give full credit to open tuition if i fail i will consider it my fault because the lectures here were brilliantDecember 6, 2011 at 1:18 pm #90953AnonymousInactive- Topics: 10

Paper was easy but I found myself going blank at little details. Hoping to pass.

I did the UK Variant… It was easy except for the last 15 marks question… I couldnt do it at all… 🙁 But it was not very lengthy
December 6, 2011 at 3:10 pm #90961paper was avg ..! it was to lenghty ..! at middle i did messed around .. hop for da best (finger crossed )
December 6, 2011 at 3:23 pm #90962It was not too tough, but I was ill-prepared as I only started studying a week before the exams.. If I pass which I hope I will, the entire credit will be due to the open tuition team!

q1 income tax with NIC.. was good
q2 corporation tax with VAT ..was okai
q3 CGT .. was bad 🙂
q4. Furnished holiday letting.. v hd to calculate Property Business loss for the yr 2010-2011 there were 3 properties.. 🙂 buh it wez okai
q5 there were 3 parts … group relief.. corporation tax liability.. and d last part of the question was IHT which contained 6 marks only..n i hd relied on IHT… lolDecember 6, 2011 at 3:32 pm #90964it started really well as it got further it was a disaster..:)
December 6, 2011 at 3:32 pm #90965I was ill prepared so foreseeing less than average.
December 6, 2011 at 3:58 pm #90966The paper itself was not difficult. The problem I had was lack of time. I think I may have spent too long on question 1, which meant the rest of the paper was very rushed. I’m pretty sure I’ve lost lots of marks along the way as I didn’t have time to double check everything in case I had missed something.
If only we had more time!
December 6, 2011 at 4:17 pm #90967Many “losses” in this paper
December 6, 2011 at 4:17 pm #90968Very very time pressured!!
I hate the way tutors teach you stuff and the examiner puts a constant twist on everything!
If I was to meet him in a dark alley well i’d…say “oi examiner noooo!! stop playing with me mind”🙁
December 6, 2011 at 4:26 pm #90969The advisory part of the paper are not easy to do… a lot of work but carry a few marks. End up doing question 4 last because it takes ages to read through
Generally not too bad thoDecember 6, 2011 at 4:30 pm #90970I thought the exam questions were OKish… There was a lot to be done and most questions were subdivided presumably to cover most of the syllabus areas???
Hope for an above 50 pass mark though, but you never know.
Did anyone get £159,000 adjusted trading loss for Q2?? Does anyone remember how many marks it had.
And the one with PPR gain of £6,000??
The paper had a lot of questions on losses.
Disappointed with the IHT question not what I was expecting.
Time was of the essence again.December 6, 2011 at 4:43 pm #90971Just about got it done.
Q1 Income tax. was very easy indeed. SPlit up nicely and the NIC element was easy easy marks
Q2 CT. not bad. Easy marks for VAT I thought compared to some past papers.
Q3 CGT, ok quite a few areas where marks can be picked up even if all figs are not correct.
Q4 – lengthy, lengthy but again marks are there to be picked up for each bit
Q5 – didn’t do much on the losses bit , but the CT including Double Tax Relief was ok and again the IHT was okBe disappointed if I do not get 50. Considering I put in serious work into this paper.
Thanks to opentuition though
December 6, 2011 at 5:02 pm #90972Ok overall
Q1 fairly straightforward
Lots to do on Q2 – I spent 1 hr 10 mins and still didn’t have time to go back over the mistake I’d made in the capital allowances!
Q3 and Q4 ok but I made a couple of silly errors due to rushing
Q5 I had left very little time for but gave it my best shot. - AuthorPosts
