It is said in the question that if demand exceeds the capacity of van then the customer will have to be turned away. Why is than in such circumstances sales revenue calculated? ie. customer would be turned away = no revenue

There is not just one customer – there are many.
So we keep the customers that fill the van. It is only the extra ones that are turned away.
