My tutor has taught us many section numbers for company law, such as Directors Duties 171-177. Now I have read an article on Opentuition that you do not get any marks for stating section numbers in the exam. Is this true!

Hi, what did the answer say? I believe I am correct – no marks for section numbers. was I wrong?

You answered the question for me on the 30 May on the chat session.
Reason why I asked was because I read an article from the examiner stating you don’t get marks for section numbers. This is contrary to what my lecturer has told me; he made the whole class memorize a lot of the section numbers in the Companies Act, Insolvency Act, Sales of Goods Act.
I think I will find it useful though.

i hope you do – but I can’t imagine in what circumstance you could possibly find them useful!

It helps me remember the law, and it impresses people, especially when I’m taking something back to a shop, ” I wish to demand a refund, for reason under S.14 of the Sales of Goods Act: Fitness for purpose.

I think they would be equally impressed if you simply quoted the Act. The section number as well? I don’t think so. And, besides, you’ll forget them all within 3 months! 🙂
