why should EPS remain comparable with past year when shares are bought or issued at market value?

the market value at which the shares are issued or bought is determined by a no. of factors… which also includes the EPS…

right i have got another question about EPS .. that EPS figure in consolidated accounts.
my question is if Parent co issues shares to sub co. on its acquisition will those shares be included in EPS calculation. I know they are included but why?
