Hello
In tinkerbell toy June 2011 question, the examiner mentioned several test of controls , however, I am surprised to see that he did not mention the following test of controls, aren’t these test of controls also valid for the given scenario?
1)Enter a dummy order for the goods which are not in order system should reject the order
2)Ask for a sample of orders to see whether they are in writing or not
3)Ask for a sample of credit limit authorization forms to see whether they have been signed by credit controller or not
4)Ask for a sample of discount authorization forms to see whether they have been signed by sales director or notAugust 23, 2018 at 7:13 am #469029I am sorry but this forum cannot offer a marking service. I recommend that you purchase a marked mock from an Approved Content Provider to help you evaluate your answers.
I will advise you however that you should drop “Ask for a sample …” as it is clearly the auditor who selects a sample – he isn’t given a sample selected by the client.
It will be more correct and concise simply to write “Review a sample of xxx to confirm that …”August 23, 2018 at 12:26 pm #469074Ok. I want to ask 1 thing related to this that what is the difference between inspect and review? I mean when to use Inspect in TOC and when to use Review in TOC?
Secondly if we are reviewing/inspecting any report then we would review/inspect the report or a sample of report?
August 23, 2018 at 12:29 pm #469075Also would it more better to write say that Review/Inspect a sample of orders to see whether they are in writing or not OR writing that Review/Inspect a sample of orders to ensure they are in writing is a more better option?
August 23, 2018 at 12:45 pm #469078Generally, I don’t think the distinction is that important in the exam. Having said that, inspect is probably the better description when you’re talking about looking at a specific document for something in particular (e.g. that it has been signed as authorised) as it suggests a level of scrutiny.

August 23, 2018 at 2:47 pm #469094Please think about your questions and apply some commonsense before posting them.
You can inspect a sample of orders/invoices etc. A sample of “a report” (i.e. there is only one) is meaningless.
August 23, 2018 at 2:52 pm #469095Ok . And like if we write a TOC that
1)Review/Inspect a sample of orders to see whether they are in writing or not OR
2)Review/Inspect a sample of orders to ensure they are in writingWhich one is a more better option as far as exam is concerned?
August 24, 2018 at 6:35 am #469186I am not a fan of “to ensure” but it is used in published answers so is clearly acceptable. I personally prefer “to confirm”.
August 24, 2018 at 2:14 pm #469243Ok, but between num 1 and num 2 , num 2 is more preferred and better na?
