I am a student of ACCA and i aim to do Phd in Finance after the completion of my course …i had a doubt in my mind that would the top universities consider the BSc degree from Oxford Brookes University and that of MSc from UOL …because that is something we would be getting through off campus studies .Dear Tashu,
I have similar plans for PhD after ACCA and MSc from UOL. Any luck with finding out if entry to a doctoral program is probable through such a study route?
I started the MSc but I stopped it cause I have decided to save for and invest in MBA instead. ACCA is a professional accountancy qualification already, so I don’t really see an added value apart from getting an MSc degree from UoL. ACCA is already a master’s level qualification. I think that an MBA will add a new dimension in my development and is better for my CV.
The original query here is whether ACCA, considered to be a masters level qualification, and MSc of UoL are recognizable qualification for the entry into a doctoral program.
In my understanding, although ACCA is a master level qualification, it is not a masters degree awarded by an academic institution, but a professional qualification just equivalent to a British Masters Degree. Yes, equivalency certificate from UKNARIC is available and could be legalised. Nonetheless, some universities shows reservation in granting admission under such situation. However, with UoL Masters, irrespective of the route adopted to gain the qualification, I am of the view that, you stand a better chance for securing an admission for a PHD in any university.
