Hey Guys,
I am attempting F789 this decemeber? I would want to know if it is really possible to complete F789 comprehensively and how many effective/productive hours a day should I be aiming to study ?September 17, 2012 at 7:58 am #72377Hi ,
u seriously can’t measure this in hours. Because everyone has his own pace…And also no one is a machine to follow the schedule strictly and with same speed.
If u are so much excited about knowing the number of hours, then u can open any website of some tuition company, and see how many hours of teaching they propose. Say it’s 80 h per paper . Then add +5 hours of home study for each day of tuition. And you will receive some result.
But this result will be totally meaningless 🙂
As there is quite few time left till exams, i suggest u to study book very quickly and rather practice kit questions.
Now say, there are 50 questions in the kit. And u plan to do them at least twice. U can set a goal of 2 questions per day. And leave some weeks before exam for revision. And if u consider 3 papers, think that u ‘ll need to do say 6 questions per day.
Or u can do focused study of one subject in one day , then another subject in the other. Pay particular attention at topics which are hard for u. Because if u leave them unclear then this will be the area where u will potentially loose marks.Honestly, if u start studying now, it’s absolutely possible to prepare for these 3. But u’ve got to develop a very effective study strategy and avoid wasting too much time on study text.
good luck.
September 17, 2012 at 10:03 am #72378Hi there.
There is no definitive answer to your question – its a bit of a “how long is a piece of string?” type question.
I echo what Ansi says – if you have the time and resources then it is perfectly possible to pass all three.
However if you are balancing a working life and study I (from my point of view) would say its a pretty big ask – but thats just my opinion.
Best of luck – and hey – theres nothing wrong in attempting three!

September 17, 2012 at 10:20 pm #72381lol thank you everyone, well i just measured it according to me and I think I can do it. Now would you guys suggest me which is usually the hardest paper of the 3?
September 18, 2012 at 8:14 am #72382Hi again.
I found F7 to be relatively straightforward – learn the methods and get plenty of question practice. (Mike’s lectures on here are fantastic)
F8 – I did nothing but reading. I didnt do any lectures or practice questions. I did study exam format & layout from ACCA past papers though which I believe helped a lot. I also work in Auditing which helped.
F9 – I am currently studying this and so far I am finding it very difficult but Ive only been studying it about 3 weeks – maybe the subject gets easier (hopefully!!)
So if you ask me today I would say F9 is the hardest.
At the end of the day it depends where your strengths lie. For me, mine are learning theory and talking about it, and learning by rote.
But ask me to remember a formula and Im goosed!!Best of luck
September 19, 2012 at 6:03 am #72383hey again,
well, i would agree with marky’s opinion.
F9 is kind of tough, but honestly, not harder then F5. The thing with F9 is just it’s all new , it’s a financial management, not an accounting, like most other acca papers.
But if u practice standard questions, understand the idea and memorize standard answers, then u will absolutely pass.However..of these 3 . I would say F8 is a real pain. The issue with F8 is that you either pass it in one go, or u are stuck with it forever 🙂
If u have any interest in audit, then it will be very easy to study it. It’s indeed an intersting subject.
However it’s a nightmare to pass 🙂 So practice as much questions as u can for f8 to get used to answer questions in a way examiner wants ..practice to be able to structure sencentes in right way and lay out answers.
F8 is way way harder then you might think while studying it.
So do not focus only on F7 and F9 , thinking that f8 will be easy.So , good luck!
