    hi all,

while studying for this paper you must have encountered this verb. It’s usage example: ” Cast the non current assets note and check that it agrees to the amount disclosed in the Balance Sheet”

why the verb “cast” is used in above? should it not be simply “Check non current assets note vs Balance sheet”?

Actually the verb “to cast” is resembling me a sorcerer casting spells 🙂

It means ‘add up’. No idea where it came from! Part of the magic of accountancy, no doubt.

I like this topic. Always wondered what “Cast the list of creditors balances at year end” meant, even though I knew it would get me marks.

    Thanks.
