Hi everyone! I am new to this website. I am currently doing my degree and I signed up for ACCA Accelerate where I can take ACCA papers before end of my degree. My uni allows me to exempt F1-F9 and left with the professional papers. I am doing well in degree of accounting as of now with first-class honours but I know ACCA is very different, i heard it is super difficult.
Anyway I am interested in taking the Professional papers , maybe P2 or the combined P1 & P3, but I heard the syllabus is going to change by this September. I am interested in taking it during December, do you think I can manage it in time? I am having my 6 months internship at EY now but it’s not that hectic yet for a Intern. Thanks!

With regards to the syllabus change, the June sitting (4-8 June) is the last sitting for P1, P3 and the current version of P2. After that the next sitting is September, when Strategic Business Leader (SBL) replaces P1 and P3 and Strategic Business Reporting (SBR) replaces P2. Therefore if you are not already well into your studies and taking them in June, you can forget about P1-P3. You will be taking the new exams.
It’s perfectly possible to self study for all ACCA exams and I have self studied successfully for every paper so far including P1 and P3. It works for me but maybe not for everyone – personally I prefer self studying as I can fit it in around my life and I learn well through reading – others might prefer having someone explain things to them. I take an exam every 3 months alongside working full time and so far have passed them all first time.
December is a long time away and it’s definitely possible for you to sit and pass an exam then – I don’t know how many other commitments you will have, but you seem to be doing well at your degree and there will surely be a little overlap. If you’re going to take your first exam in December I’d recommend SBR – there should be more overlap with your degree and although the style of the exam is changing, the syllabus and knowledge required is the same as P2. Whereas SBL will be a 4 hour exam with a huge syllabus – probably not the best introduction to ACCA! Alternatively, you could take one of the Option papers (P4-P7) – these are not changing much, but as SBR is a new exam there is not the depth of practice questions, study materials and past papers yet, but there will be at the end of the year.

Yeah actually I was considering taking P2, or the new syllabus SBR soon first but I was worried I am not able to get enough study material to prepare for it as I am still new to this. This website opentuition only have P2 notes for now right? Or do you think it is okay if I just study P2 notes for my SBR since the syllabus will not change too much?
May 1, 2018 at 3:31 pm #449671This website currently only has notes for P2 yes, but as the knowledge required is the same I think you can use these as a starting point, and when the SBR notes come out switch to those.
The official tuition providers Kaplan and BPP do have textbooks available if you want something geared specifically to the new exam.
