depends on the college in which u r applying for ……
normally 5.5 – 6.0 band is acceptable…………….

Thanks. But IELTS has two modules. Academic and general. I’m not sure which one I have to sit for?

To apply for the university or college ,u have to sit for ACADEMIC module of IELTS.Its a UKBA(UK border agency) requirement.
while for immigration purposes,like if u r applying for investor visa etc ,
u will be required to appear in GENERAL module of IELTS.hope this clears ur query.if still u r unclear,u can freely ask.
