I was watching the introductory video to F7 Exam Format and it stated that there will be:
20 questions @ 2m each
2 questions @ 15m each
1 question @ 30mMay I know if this is the updated exam format?
April 23, 2018 at 3:58 pm #448559I assume that you’re taking the June 2018 exam
In that case, the exam format is as follows:
Section A of the exam comprises 15 objective test questions of 2 marks each
Section B of the exam comprises three 10 mark case-based questions. Each case has five objective test questions of 2 marks each
Section C of the exam comprises two 20 mark questions.
If you are not taking the June exam, post again and I’ll tell you the format for the September exam
In addition you need to tell me whether you’re going for CBE or paper based exam
OK?
April 23, 2018 at 4:15 pm #448563Yes, I’ll be taking the June 2018 exam and I’ll be taking it paper-based.
Just out of curiosity, there will be changes to the F7 paper-based exam format for September 2018?
April 23, 2018 at 6:32 pm #448581Yes, there will – do you want me to tell you or would that represent negative thinking on your part?
April 23, 2018 at 6:38 pm #448583May I know what are the changes to the format? Honestly, there is a teeny weeny bit of negative thinking on my side over here.
April 23, 2018 at 6:56 pm #448590Here we go! This is from the ACCA’s own website. There is not a lot of difference between the format of September 2018 when compared with June 2018
“For paper-based exams an extra 15 minutes on top of the three hours is provided to candidates to reflect the manual effort required as compared to the time needed for the computer-based exams. The total exam time is therefore three hours and 15 minutes.
Furthermore, prior to the start of the exam candidates are given an extra 10 minutes to read the exam instructions
Section A of the paper-based exam comprises 15 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each
Section B of the paper-based exam comprises three questions containing five multiple choice questions
Section C of the exam comprises two 20 mark questions
The 20 mark questions will examine the interpretation and preparation of financial statements for either a single entity or a group
The section A questions and the other questions in section B can cover any areas of the syllabus
An individual question may often involve elements that relate to different subject areas of the syllabus. For example the preparation of an entity’s financial statements could include matters relating to several accounting standards
Questions may ask candidates to comment on the appropriateness or acceptability of management’s opinion or chosen accounting treatment. An understanding of accounting principles and concepts and how these are applied to practical examples will be tested
Questions on topic areas that are also included in Paper F3 will be examined at an appropriately greater depth in this paper
Candidates will be expected to have an appreciation of the need for specified accounting standards and why they have been issued. For detailed or complex standards, candidates need to be aware of their principles and key elements”
OK?
(Think positive!)
April 23, 2018 at 7:10 pm #448592Thank you so much for the explanation! I will do my best to pass this paper in June 2018!
April 23, 2018 at 7:18 pm #448596You’re welcome … but post any questions that you may have and I shall get back to you
