August 30, 2010 at 10:45 am #65213why not get to grips with reading the questions and answers from the revision kit? That way you’ll get a good idea of the “standard” matters which appear to crop up time and again.
September 1, 2010 at 12:39 pm #65214Hello
I toke this paper In June 2010 & Failed it with 45 Mark, there are many advice regarding this matter , but the thing which I would like to comfirm you is that it’s a practical paper , the more you practice the good you will perform in the exam, how ever as start point you can give a brief look for a study text (as there are many thearies & models that U should know) then focus on the kit ; the best way to use the kit is to answer the question then compare your answer to the book answer, also it’s very important to read a business section in the magazine periodacally focusing on companies isuues like corp. governance, risk management etc.October 12, 2010 at 10:09 pm #65215Anonymous

I would not suggest that you read the answers from the revision kit before you have attempted the question. The key to passing P1 is a good knowledge of the subject area together with the ability to cope with the questions that the examiner asks. Knowledge alone probably won’t get you through and some of David Campells questions need to be thought about carefully to make sure you understand exactly what he wants.
You need to attempt every past paper question – pay particular attention to the question requirements, many students misinterpret the requirements. You also need to read the making schemes and the examiners reports. The marking scheme should give you an indication of how many marks the examiner allocates to each part of a question. the examiners reports will show you how to avoid mistakes. In particular one thing that seems to come up in every sitting is the problem of not applying the information in the question. Look for phrases such as “using information from the case …..” which should indicate that you need to supplement your answers with examples from the case study.
Good luck to everyone taking the December exam.
