Hi can someone please tell me how do they get the $3400 accumulated depreciation for OLD ENGINE
Its an old PYQ from June 2009. Q5 Flightline https://www.accaglobal.com/content/dam/acca/global/PDF-students/2012/f7mys_2009_jun_a.pdf
It was 2,700 as at 1 April, 2008
For the 6 months to 30 September there was depreciation of 300 so, at the date of the incident, accumulated depreciation on both of the engines was 3,000 each
With effect from 1 October, 2008 the estimated remaining useful life was changed and the resultant depreciation was therefore altered to 800 for a full year
But, of course, there’s only 6 months between 1 October, 2008 and 31 March, 2009 so only 400 is charged for that 6 months
And there you have 3,400 accumulated depreciation on the old engine
OK?
