My question may sound silly but it has disturbed me quite a lot.
I was doing Kaplan CBE mock exam and when checked my responses with the answer sheet, I found that the computer has marked even those answers as incorrect where the answer doesn’t match even by just one decimal. 🙁 e.g, if the correct answer is 2.23 and I have typed 2.24, the computer said its incorrect.
Will this is how we will be marked in the exam too?Regards,
It depends on the nature of the question.
For example, when discounting you can get different answers due to roundings in the tables (discounting each flow in an annuity separately will give a different answer to using the annuity factor). For that sort of question, the computer either be programmed to accept a range of answers, or (more likely) will ask for the answer to maybe the nearest $1,000.
However for questions where there really is only one correct answer, then any other answer will be marked wrong. It may seem unfair, but getting a different answer (however close to the correct answer) will either mean you have done something wrong, or have made a calculator error. Unfortunately there are no half marks – you either get 2 marks or you get zero.
