We are usually asked to write one of the mentioned above in our exam, the same goes for the p1 exam.
So, if anyone could draft formats of all these and put them up please. Would be really good if opentuition itself did that. Thank you.

In the exam, Report and Memo and briefing paper can be presented in almost the same way:

    REPORT/MEMORANDUM/BRIEFING PAPER
    To…..
    By/From…..
    Title/about
    Date

    1 Introduction
    .
    .
    2 Paragraph 2 title
    .
    .
    3 Paragraph 3 title
    .
    .
    6 Conclusion/recommendations/further action etc

    Letters

Should start with (fake) name and address of sender, name and address of recipient, date,

    Dear Mr X/Dear Sir

    What the letter is about

Letter – divided into paragraphs but not usually numbered

Finish of with something like “If you need any further information please do not hesitate to contact me”

If the letter starts ‘Dear Sir’ it is usual to end it ‘Yours faithfully’
If it starts Dear Mr X/Ms Y’ it is usual to end it ‘Yours sincerely’.

I don’t recall a ‘statement’ ever being asked for in P3 and am not really sure what you mean by that. To me it sound more quantitative eg cash flow statement.

    Hope that helps

Oh and statement, here, this dec 08 question 1’s part (c)..

    (c) Mr Cobar, the chief executive of SHC, has decided to draft two alternative statements to explain both possible
outcomes of the secrecy/licensing decision to shareholders. Once the board has decided which one to pursue,
the relevant draft will be included in a voluntary section of the next corporate annual report.
    Required:

    (i) Draft a statement in the event that the board chooses the secrecy option. It should make a convincing
business case and put forward ethical arguments for the secrecy option. The ethical arguments should
be made from the stockholder (or pristine capitalist) perspective. (8 marks)

(ii) Draft a statement in the event that the board chooses the licensing option. It should make a convincing
business case and put forward ethical arguments for the licensing option. The ethical arguments should
be made from the wider stakeholder perspective. (8 marks)

(iii) Professional marks for the persuasiveness and logical flow of arguments: two marks per statement.
    (4 marks)

I guess there is no format for this..plain title and can start of then?

I think that’s right – no special format. Here it’s just a paragraph or page to be included in the annual report

    Hi All

Does the format for memo, report and briefing paper applies to board paper?

It’s for P4 exam where mostly board papers are required. I guess it ends with a conclusion or recommendation.

    Thanks

There’s a good article about formats at ACCA website https://www.accaglobal.com/content/dam/acca/global/pdf/sa_junjul09_condon.pdf
