In the MTC(matters to consider) questions, is it always necessary to write something about the audit report implications?This was in one of the examiners report:
Candidates were not asked to consider audit reporting implications in this question as the scenario is set at review stage not the reporting stage of the audit and again a number of candidates wasted time providing information which was not required.
Personally, I felt that was a good way to pick up a mark in MTC question but is that only relevant to questions set at the reporting stage?

Again, I’m faced with giving a “standard” answer! See how many marks are available and whether you have planned sufficient separate markable points go gain a pass in that part of the question.
If you haven’t, and even if it’s at the planning stage, there’s always the possibility that that one extra sentence could make the difference between 49% and 50%
If it’s not relevant and it doesn’t score a mark, what have you lost? You didn’t have enough points anyway so the time taken of 1 minute 18 seconds is not a lot of time to have wasted
These written exams don’t require the brain of a nuclear physicist! 10 marks available? Aim for 10 points. But you must have at least 5 points to gain the pass mark in that part of that question
And if you can think of only 4 relevant points in the 5 minutes planning time … stick in a sentence within matters to consider about the possible implications for the audit opinion if things don’t change before the year end
