hey
yes there is some similarity in that many of the topics are inter related like strategic management process, porter’s five forces and critical success factors, ratio analysis etc
In p5 many of the questions in section B can come up from p3 syllabus
and sure you can attempt them at the same time 🙂
i am attempting them together..you dont have to study the inter related topics like i am not going to study strategic management and ratio analysis again in p5
Are you planning to give them together this june?April 15, 2010 at 8:56 am #59204AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

I tried to register exam entry for P3 and P5 in June, but MYACCA does not allow me to attempt the two papers together. By the way, I haven’t passed P2. Can anyone tell me if I have to pass P2 before taking any optional paper?

you can either give p2, p3 and p5 OR p2 and p3 together 🙂April 15, 2010 at 11:00 am #59206AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

One way to do it is to apply for P2, P3 & P5 and just attempt the two you want. You have to pay the exam fee, but it’s a trick people use to do what they want “within” the ACCA guidelines.

THESE PAPERS HAVE SIMILARITIES AND THEY ARE INTERWOVEN. P3 HELPS THE FORMULATION OF OBJECTIVES, STRATEGIES, PLANS AND THEN THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CSFs AND THE KPIs.
P5 COMES IN FROM HERE TO ASSESS WHETHER OR NOT WE ARE SUCCEEDING ie. THE EXTENT TO WHICH WE ARE ABLE TO MEET OR ACHIEVE THE KPIs, AND THUS THE CSFs AND OBVIOUSLY THE OBJECTIVES. - AuthorPosts
