    Hello Sir,
    In the Kaplan exam kit there is an exercise with the question on variances: “Calculate the material mix and yield variances for April. You are not required to make any comment on the performance of the managers.” – and that I did, but checking the answer at the back, I see that they calculated and also providing marking scheme for:
    Price variance;
    Sales price variance;
    Sales volume variance.
    I’m confused, as do I always need to calculate all the other possible variances even if it’s not specially mentioned in the question? Please clarify for the exam.

    No. The question will either state the variances that are required, or ask for specific comments (which will indicate which variances are needed).
