Dear Respected members,
The Information pack prescribes word count for each part of the RAP.
PART 1 – Project objectives and overall research approach – approx. 1,000 words
PART 2 – Information gathering and accounting / business techniques –
approx. 2,000 words
PART 3 – Results, analysis, conclusions and recommendations – approx. 4,500 wordsIs it mandatory to ensure this word count for all parts/sections ? or we just need to make sure that total word count is between 7000 and 7500 words ?
My current RAP has a total word count of between 7000-7500 words, but section wise count of my RAP is as under :
PART 1 : 600 words approx
PART 2 : 1000 words approx and
PART 3 : 6000 words approx.Kindly confirm.
Thanks

(Mostly all that is required in Part 1 are the research objectives and questions)
I always recommend at least 4,500 words for Part 3 to ensure adequate analysis.
October 11, 2017 at 8:52 am #410308Yes I have covered the requirements in Part 1 and Part 2. I have used 5 different models for analysis, conclusions and recommendations, namely, Ratios/Trend, SWOT, PEST, Force Filed analysis and Porter’s five forces model. Therefore, I require more word count for Part 3. (I am working on topic 7)
Thanks for your response.
October 13, 2017 at 1:23 pm #410800Word count is just a guidance for PARTS, I had very low word count in part 1 and 2, but did cover the necessary requirements. Used most of the count in Part 3 – which is crucial.
But overall, the word count MUST be in compliance, 7,500, its distribution is up to you.

I think some form of change management needs to be discussed here for T7 and I think with some of the models you have set out there is some duplication. So be brutal with yourself and ask yourself why you are including a particular model and if it is adding value to your analysis and contributing to the achievement of your objectives? Unless it is then remove it to allow better use of the word count.
Ps I have been told that in Part 1 there should be some justification of topic choice and company as well as research objectives but you should still keep this section as short as you can

October 14, 2017 at 8:53 pm #411017Thanks a lot for the valuable input.
I understand that I have used more models, and I realize that Porters 5 forces model is not of much use for this topic.
Ratios / trend analysis is important as it explains the impact on profitability,
Force filed analysis is also critical, as it identifies the driver for / against the change,I have one question here. SWOT and PEST are two different business models, but they go along very well. Can I use them combined, as a single business model?
I understand that SWOT and PEST analysis is important as it expands the strengths/opportunities/other factors which lead to the drivers for change and also explain the threats/weaknesses/other factors which entails the drivers against the change.Would love to hear further input and feedback on the matter.
Thanks
