So I’m starting ACCA in December and I’m quite an organised person so want to be as prepared as possible. I’m doing a course at one of the study centres so will be taught everything there I know but I really want to prepare some notes before. I’ve looked at all information on the ACCA website and seen there’s a syllabus with study guide questions at the end for each paper. Ive only looked at F1 as obviously that’s the exam I’ll be starting on. They seem like they’d be pretty straight forward to google, e.g. ‘define business organisations’, is it worth looking into these questions before I start so I’ve got a bit of background knowledge? Or will google tell me the wrong kind of information which is not what ACCA specifically wants? I don’t want to waste my time if I’m obtaining the wrong information but at the same time I really want a bit of background knowledge before I start. Can anyone recommend the best way to prepare and the right things to research and make notes on? Thanks for any help, getting very panicked!

If you want to get some background knowledge then I’d recommend downloading the F1 study notes from this website and having a skim read through them to get an idea of what the topics are about, then reading in more detail about anything you want to know more about.
September 29, 2017 at 12:57 pm #408987You have a great attitude towards approaching ACCA which prepare you well for the course.I would share the following general advice which would be to try and read slightly ahead of your classes if a class guide is given or to generally read ahead in terms of syllabus. This should allow you to understand and reinforce additional information given in your classes. This applies to anyone studying at college or university equivalent as well as for professional exams.I would also try and listen to business programmes and news on BBC World Service and or watch CNBC or Blomberg if these are available to you.The Economist and Financial Times are also useful for information if you can buy them or look at then at library. These should provide information useful to you throughout your course.Certain topics are worth getting a thorough understanding of since they are applicable to a number of areas and papers throughout qualification.Ratio analysis and getting thorough understanding of double entry are two of these areas. Also male use of This and forums on it.Feel free to ask anything on individual applicable forums.Hope this was useful.
