Hi sir, is a pick list equivalent to a goods despatch note (GDN) ?
For example, is it a deficiency if the warehouse team uses the pick list to despatch goods ?
Shouldn’t the goods be checked against the GDN and the GDN checked against the order before despatch of goods ?
August 28, 2017 at 4:32 am #403838For December 2013 Exam question 3c), my answers are slightly different from the answer key. Would my answers be accepted ?
Deficiency: A daily pick list is used by the warehouse team to dispatch goods. However, there is no evidence saying that the goods are checked against the GDN and the GDN is checked against the order before dispatch of goods.
This could result in incorrect goods being sent out.
Recommendation: In addition to the pick list, a copy of the order form and the GDN should be printed on a daily basis. The goods should then be cross checked to the GDN and the GDN cross checked to the original order before dispatch of goods.
The warehouse despatch team should check that the correct quantities and correct products are being dispatched as well as checking the quality of the goods to ensure that they are not damaged.
August 28, 2017 at 7:11 am #403849A pick list is the list used by warehouse employees to pick the items to be dispatched from the shelves in the warehouse. There is a danger that an employee picks the wrong part so a final comparison to the GDN can is useful. I think the key is that picking and checking are performed by different people.
Your answer is fine.
