    Hi

I keep failing P1, it is the fifth time now. I have tried everything, I used BPP online lectures, Kaplan Materials and Opentuition lectures. I even went to a private tutor. I answered the P&R kit for BPP twice, and marked myself.

    I am so frustrated.

Is there any advice you can give me to pass this exam?

    Thanks

Have you tried to think the reason by yourself?

Were you confident when you came out from the exam centre? Were you able to answer 3 full questions (or were you trying to get pecfect in some questions whilst only wrote few words on other questions)? Did you really answer the question according to the requirements (e.g. analyse, explain, contrast, evaluate)? Did you answer the questions using the facts given in the cases rather than generic answers (except for those questions asking for definitions)?

After attempting the paper for 5 times, I suppose you should already have enough knowledge to pass the paper. I guess you are just not having the right exam techniques to gain your marks. I personally think that exam skills are very important for any P level papers.

    Hi

I have answered all the questions except of 16 marks in question 4 and question 1. Ran out of time. I tried to follow the verb as much as I could, I always tried to get from the case.

I am sure it is the technique, probably, but I am not sure what is needed to be change in it exactly.

Other thing is I feel idiotic taking part of the question as an answer, however, I been asked many time to do so. Which I have done this time but still no success.

English is not my first language, however, I communicate well on the professional level. As I work as an Semi Senior Accountant. Despite that, It has been pointed to me couple of times it might be the handwriting or the language barrier. Because they search for exact sophisticated professional words sometimes.

I am really lost with all the theories and comments to be honest. 🙁

What did you get for your last sitting?

Time allocation is very important for P level papers. Remember 1.8 mins for each mark. First half of the marks of each sub-question should be relatively easy to get, compared with the second half. So dont try to over-write on the those questions which you feel comfortable with. If you find yourself cannot answer to one sub-question, it will then be okay to spend the relevant time on other questions which you are more confident with.

Have you tried to memorize the key wordings of the basic concepts (e.g. governance = how a company is directed and controlled)? Many of them have been repeatedly examined and you can see them appear quite often in sample answers. Memorizing them may be a good way for answering the questions (english is my third language and i found it useful when i studied P1).

When you write down the facts given in the case, did you explain why they are relevant to the question / apply or link with your knowledge?

English should not be a problem (unless the markers are not able to read your handwriting) – you wont get marks by writing perfect sentences , except for 1-2 professional marks in Q1.
