When we start the P level, we are asked to read around the study text. We are asked to read good financial/accounting magazines and newspapers.
Which newspapers or magazine should we read? Should we read both local and international?
Are there available for free online?
I had emailed to ACCA regarding this but they didn’t specify any names.
Personally, I feel good question practice is more than enough to clear the exam, while reading around will increase knowledge and make us more aware of the real world economic and accounting developments.
Suggestions please?
June 15, 2017 at 7:40 pm #393279The Economists is a quality magazine to read. For P3 it should serve you well.In terms of articles to read look at articles about the business strategies various companies are employing as well as environmental economic trends and how companies attempt to respond to these changes. The business pages of a good quality newspaper should cover these matters. In terms of radio I would try the BBC world service. In terms of tv probably CNBC or Bloomberg. The Financial Times may be of particular use especially if you are studying P4.Hope this is helpful.

What do you suggest for P7?
June 23, 2017 at 7:36 pm #393931You are welcome.I am not sure what to suggest as I am not taking that particular paper.I would consult the international audit and assurance standards board if I were you.I would also think about how news events apply to P7 such as Tesco’s profit exaggeration and how applying techniques associated with P7 could potentially have prevented such situations.
