Is it absolutely necessary to give the main answer first and show all my workings at the end (like how it is done in the study texts and revision kits)?

Because I do not know how much space I should leave for the main answer until after I am done with the workings.

Can’t I just give the workings first and then write down the main answer, while giving proper headings so that it is easier to understand?

I just don’t want to waste any unnecessary time.

If you are preparing a corporation tax computation or an income tax computation then you should only need a page for the comp and the workings can then follow but it will not be a problem if you put the workings first but clearly mark your workings and start the formal comps on a new page clearly headed up

Basically, I can show the workings and main computation with proper markings (such as W1, W2) in any order as long as I start in a new page for both of them?

I should have asked these simple questions a lot sooner instead of putting them off until the last minute.

Each working does not have to be shown on a separate page just show the formal comps on a new page and in its entirety either before the workings – preferred – or after the workings if YOU prefer
