writing in notes or seperate notebook

Hello Sir,

Would it be better to write in a separate notebook the workings of the lecture examples as it would not show directly the answers in the notes below the questions for future practice

OR

should i write the workings in the lines of the notes.

please explain how to go about this and i prefer to write either in the notes or in notebook, solely.
