Hi John,
Every question if mergers and acquisition that I have come across is quite different and challenging from the previous one, I can’t go ahead with the solution without looking at the how the examiner has sovled it first.
Could you suggest me how I could tackle an acquisition question in the exam if it were to come up?

You can’t really learn a rule as to the approach, and in most cases the examiners answer is not the only way that it could have been approached (and there is rarely just one correct answer).
State your assumptions as you go along and apply your knowledge wherever you are able to.
Remember you are aiming to get 50% to pass, and anything extra you do is in a sense a bonus to make more certain that you do pass 🙂
