ACCA announced big changes today. I didn’t find a good summary on the ACCA web site, although all the information is there.

From what I can tell, these are the changes:

    * Fundamentals Knowledge module renamed to Applied Knowledge
    * Fundamentals Skills module renamed to Applied Skills
    * Professional level renamed to Strategic Professional
    * No changes to the Applied Skills and Knowledge exams
    * Paper numbers (F1, F2…) being removed. Only name to be used (e.g. Corporate and Business Law)
    * P1 and P3 merged into new 4-hour Strategic Business Leader (with case study)
    * P2 staying the same (renamed to Strategic Business Reporting)
    * P options stay the same
    * No change to BSc or MSc
    * Professional Ethics Module (PEM) replaced by Ethics and Professional Skills module (takes about 20 hours)

P1/P3 changes to go into effect with September 2018 sitting

I have already passes P1 p2 p3 and done the ethics module. I’m sure these changes won’t affect me will they?

    Just curious.

But the 4 hour exam wow. I can’t sit still for 3 hours allow the 4!

If you have completed P1 and P3 already, you’re golden. If you completed only one of the two, you have to make sure you pass the other one in the June 2017 sitting or before. If you have not completed both P1 and P3 before the September 2017 sitting, you have to do the new Strategic Business Leader exam.

@tbm13 – From what I understand September 2017 is the last opportunity to complete the existing Professional Ethics Module. The first sittings for the new Strategic Business Leader exam will be in September 2018, not September 2017.

Anyone knows when ACCA will switch all exams, including professional level ones to computer-based ones instead of hand-written ones?

The Professional Ethics Module being withdrawn in September 2017, I plan on completing it before it is withdrawn, do you recommend completing it alongside P1 or can both be done separately and alone? I ask because I plan on sitting P2 in June as I started tuition for it in 2016 and would not be sitting P1 until September at the earliest. Thanks.

The current ethics module is pretty pointless and takes 2-4 hours at most.

It’s all pretty obvious ethical stuff you’d get on any corporate ethics training.

I would say do both of those two papers first but one at a time unless you are a full time student.I found that working full time and doing more than one paper feels rushed for one sitting. Which paper youdo first does not really matter as they do overlap quick a lot.
However, you don’t need to rush as you have till September 2018 before these modules merge.

    Hi,

Just looking for a bit of advice regarding the new P1 and P3 paper.

I only have 3 attempts to get P1 and P3 done so I was wondering would I be better off doing P2 in December and then one of my choices in June and waiting and do the new paper then next December?

    Thanks

This is probably extremely late but people seem to be so calm about the P2 change. Perhaps there is not much of a syllabus change.. Which is great. But why has no one mentioned the change in exam? Unless i have read it wrong, Having no options in the second part of the exam is something to take into consideration.

I am hoping I have read it wrong… but the ACCA PDF has the below (current one p2).

The paper will comprise two sections.
Section A Compulsory question 50 marks
    Section B 2 from 3 questions of
    25 marks each 50 marks
    100 marks
    https://www.accaglobal.com/content/dam/acca/global/PDF-students/acca/p2/studyguides/p2-int-sg-sept17-jun18.pdf

For the new P2 pdf we have the below

The paper will comprise two sections.
    Section A 2 compulsory questions 50 marks
Section B 2 compulsory questions of
    25 marks each 50 marks
    100 marks

I called up ACCA.. Lady seems to say ACCA have no confirmed the Exam set up yet :S. Or she was just lost not sure..

It is confirmed (and applies to most of the P level papers), but does not take effect until September 2018.

Yes I also found that on future.accaglobal.com all P level papers from September 2018 will section B with 2 compulsory questions , so no optional to choose from ! I was so disappointed because I’m not gonna make it on time to finish all P level papers before September 2018.
I decided now that I will try as best as I can to clear P2, and P1+P3 in March and June.
Could anyone advise if it is better to take P2 in March first and then P1+P3 in June? The problem with this is that if I Fail One P1 or P3 – would mean I Failed both as I would have to retake it as One combined exam in September. But I heard P1 and P3 are easy.. that’s why I thought better to clear P2 first as it is the most difficult paper in ACCA I think..

    Can anyone suggest please

Hello everyone. I am looking for an advice for P2 exam. As mentioned earlier, P2 will be renamed to Strategic Business Reporting. May I know whether there is any changes in the syllabus content?

    Thanks in advance 🙂

The new syllabus can be found here:

    https://future.accaglobal.com/changes-to-the-qualification/the-qualification-journey/strategic-professional/strategic-business-reporting

To me it sounds like there is not really much new stuff added, it’s more of a change of emphasis where you need to be able to explain and articulate issues more rather than just performing calculations.

P-levels not moving to computer based. At least not in the near future.
