    Hello Sir,

First of all thanks a lot for the lovely videos on F9.

I have appeared for F9 twice earlier each time acquiring only 40 marks. I really dnt have the time to study the text, i have watched the videos by you but haven’t done the notes. Can you please advice me if doing the opentuition notes instead of the Text book sufficient?

    Thanks.

How can you have watched the lectures without the notes?
As it says at the start of each lecture, you need to have the notes in front of you while you watch the lectures (because the examples that I work through in the lectures are those that are printed in the lecture notes!)

The lectures (together with the lecture notes!) are a complete course, and so you do not really need the Study Text.

What is absolutely vital is that you have a Revision Kit and that you have attempted every question in it – practice at exam standard questions is the most important thing of all.

(I assume you are aware that the format of the exam will be different in September, with more MCQ’s and fewer long-form questions. There is a specimen exam in the new format on the ACCA website.)

yes, i have seen the worked out examples from the notes along with the videos but didn’t go thru the theory part of the notes.

I also have done the BPP revision kit practice.

Yes i am aware of the changes with more Objective type questions and thats what is bothering me if I can cope up without doing the BPP study text.

    Thanks.

Firstly, you must go through the theory (and listen to the lectures when I talk through the theory).
Only 50% of the exam will be calculations – the rest is theory (both in the MCQ’s and in the long-form questions).

Secondly, the fact that there are more MCQ’s does not affect at all what you need to learn – whether you choose to learn it from my notes and lectures, or from the Study Text.

However, by far the best examples to practice on are those in the Revision Kit, because they are all exam-standard (and include past exam questions). If you have already attempted every question, then try then again at speed (because time pressure is a huge problem in the exam), and make sure you try them without looking at the answers until afterwards 🙂
