    Hey John

I was wondering do you go from 5731/(16*500)=r^4
    to 92%?

Thats how theyve presented the working in the kit.

Also, is there anyway to solve this question by using the formula? If so, could you solve it and show the workings?

Thanks and have an awesome day! 🙂

    r^4 = 5731/(16 x 500) = 0.716375

    Therefore r = fourth root of 0.716376 = 0.92 (or 92%)

To use the formula you would need to mess around with antilogs which would be ridiculous. The equation is deliberately testing you on the doubling rule – the examiner expects you to know the doubling rule as well as being able to use the formula (but not to use the formula to ‘work backwards’).

    Thanks!

How do I find the fourth root of 0.716376?

What do I input in my calculator?

    Edit: Found it! Thanks!
