Please can you suggest an approach that you think would be most effective for answering the new exams format.
August 18, 2016 at 5:57 am #333864There is no real change in approach from the previous format.
You must allocate your time between the sections.
For the MCQ’s in Section A and B, you should attempt the shorter questions (and those on areas you feel more confident in) first – jumping over the other questions – and then go back using whatever time you have left to attempt the others.
If it is obvious to you that you have no idea about a question then you should guess, and in the 5 minutes before the end of the exam you should make sure you have guessed answers for any questions remaining. (If you have 5 questions left and you guess them all, then you will almost certainly get at least one of them right and get 2 marks, which obviously makes a huge difference if you would otherwise have failed on 48!)In Section C you must make sure you write something – however little – for each part of each question. For calculation parts make sure you show your workings neatly – the marks are for the workings, not for the final answer. For written parts, again you must write something – even just making 1 reasonable sensible point will get you a mark.
Most important of course is to make sure before the exam that you have studied the whole syllabus properly, and that you have practiced every question in your Revision Kit.
