Hi John, I hope that all is well with you. It is the first time I register and study for ACCA (F5) and I will be writing in December 2016. I’m using BPP study and practice questions. Lately as I was browsing through the forum and I always read about students asking questions and referring to the online free lectures and practice questions. Which got me thinking about which materials to focus on when preparing for this kind of an exam especially if it’s my first attempt.
Should the online lectures be more of the focus point than the study text? I’m not sure if it’s my nerves talking 🙂 I just need a bit of guidance on how to tackle my studies through the resources provided i.e. online lectures, study text and practice questions.
But on the positive note with each and every chapter I study, no matter how difficult some calculations may be, I’m really confident that I’m going to do extremely well in the December F5 exam.

With regards to your question I will tell you to use the study text together with the online lectures. Study the text first then you go back and watch some videos. It will enable what you have studied to stick better. I have been doing that and its working well for me. I hope it works well for you too. Goodluck

Paballo: If you are watching my free lectures (using the free lecture notes that go with them) then you do not need the Study Text. The lectures are a complete course for F5 and cover everything needed to be able to pass the exam well.
What is vital is that you have a Revision Kit because they have lots of exam standard questions to practice, and question practice is essential.
(If you have the Study Text, then it is best just to use it as a reference book for any areas that you are unsure about after watching the lectures and practicing questions)
Do download our free Study Guide from the main F5 page, and do ask in this forum if you encounter any problems and need help.
