    Practice questions chapter 12
    Question 2

While I understand learning curve and I did manage to solve the question with the formula I was wondering how you got your answer. More specifically, how you got the “.83”

    Thanks for your help
    Have a nice day John!

Because making 8 units involved doubling 3 times (1 to 2; 2 to 4; 4 to 8), it is easier and quicker to use the doubling rule instead of the formula.

There is a typing mistake in the pop-up answer – the average time per unit when making 8 units = 0.80^3 (not 0.83) and so the total time = 42 x 0.80^3 = 21.504

(You can use the formula here instead, but you do need to know the doubling rule for situations where you need to ‘work backwards’ to get the learning rate.)

Thanks for noticing – I will have it corrected (but I am wondering if it was my typing mistake or if the software won’t show the ^ symbol).

Sounds good. I thought it was a mistake so I thought I`d get it clarified.

    Thanks mate!
Ill brush up on the doubling method as well. Wouldnt take too long because the first time I did the doubling method I understood it pretty well.

    Cheers!

I just checked the question. the “^” is now there. Makes more sense.

    I see!
    Time is money aha 😉

I am considering taking my F9 paper with OpenTuition while also going to college for it. next semester since the classes at the college will be shorter. The only reason I do not want to do it only at OpenTuition is because I feel the need for a physical tutor.

Just one suggestion I had. If you could implement a speed setting for your videos that would be pretty helpful. I just watched the lecture on Learning curve again and because of the fact that Ive done it before at college, the first few minutes didnt really concern me. I just needed one little point which I understood later. So if I had the option to increase the speed to 2x I could use lesser time. So yeah, if you could look into it itd be great.
Also, consider the ability to add pictures on the forums? It`s easier to explain a problem by showing it.

A speed setting would be nice, but at the moment we can’t justify the cost – we do not operate for profit. Maybe sometime in the future.

With regard to adding pictures, the problem there is that there would be a risk of people posting pictures of questions or answers from textbooks etc., and then we would be in breach of copyright.
