Hi everyone
I am about 2/3 of the way through the Kaplan book for F9 for the September sitting. There are so many wordy parts and some chapters with no calculations in and I’m feeling like there is too much information that I’m never going to learn!
Which wordy parts of the syllabus are you going to learn and which are you going to leave?
Thanks
August 5, 2016 at 4:01 am #331512I am going to study the entire syllabus if time permits. Since section A weighs 60% now, it’s way too dangerous to leave any syllabus out. Focus on reading and understanding all the concepts in every chapter. This way you can secure at least a 75% in section A. That’s already 45% of the score. Though the MCQ might get harder under this new format.
In section B make sure you write something in every question. Workings are really important here. One simple “yes this is financially acceptable” sentence can provide one full mark.
Working capital is very important- comes out in the section B of every exam. But there are only 2 questions in section B under the new format so I’m not sure about that anymore.
Practice all past year questions on NPV- it’s the most straightforward question of all and could provide an easy 10 marks there (don’t make any careless mistakes on inflating prices or calculating tax payables etc)Sources of finance and dividend policies could provide you some easy marks there too since its all theory based (except convertible bonds but that’s super straightforward)
WACC can provide you some straightforward marks too.
This should be sufficient to guarantee a pass (hopefully), though I’m hoping for at least an 80%. Good luck!
