Learning curve MCQ:
A product takes 10 minutes to make on first attempt and has a learning rate of 80%.
It is estimated that the learning rate will apply for the first 100 attempts then the time taken per unit will remain constant. calculate the amount of time it will take to produce each unit after the first 100 attempts.
OK so if my understanding is correct:
Y=ax^b
Avg time for 100 units = 10 x 100^-0.321928095 = 2.2706
Total time for 100 units = 100 x 2.2706 = 227.06
Avg time for 101 units = 10 x 101^-0.321928095 = 2.2634
Total time for 101 units = 101 x 2.2634 = 226.34
: Time for 101st and all subsequent units = 227.06 – 226.34 = 0.72 minutes or 43.2 seconds
Hope that’s right.
