Hi all,
I m very new to a lot of ACCA studies and Degree/Masters programme, please kindly guide me.
I originate from Hong Kong and got married and moved to USA before finishing my ACCA. I have 6 papers left and thought to continue taking them but most organizations in the US doesn’t know ACCA. I was told to stop ACCA and take CPA. When I went for CPA, I was told I need a degree to sit for CPA which I don’t have, I only have Diploma in Financial Accounting and AAT(Accounting Technician) certification. I went to San Jose State University and they were clueless about ACCA and told me there is no credit for UK studies and I would have to start a full time degree course from scratch which would take 4 years and it is costly.
I have 2 kids and I can’t take full time classes and ignore them so I decided to continue my ACCA papers at least I m not wasting my efforts plus I wanted to find some online degree programme.
Then I came across study interactive, they currently have MBA programme that u can start after completing ALL ACCA papers. It is all online. Here is the link.
https://www.studyinteractive.org/online-courses/mba/global/
I didn’t wanted to just step into it without know anything about it as there are so many websites offering online programs and so many scams. I was told i have to sign up for all remaining ACCA papers study courses to enroll in the MBA program but I will only have access to study for each paper right the 3 months before the sitting. For example, if I m taking the June 2016, I will have access to study for the papers in March. I find that not enough time as I have a lot to review since I left studies aside for quite a few years for family reasons and things have change quite a bit.
Just the 6 papers studies (3 months access for each) and the MBA certification would be around £4000. With tight budget but also needing the certification, I don’t know if there are better and cheaper ways.
Could anyone kindly advice asap please?
Many thanks!February 15, 2016 at 1:58 am #300459did you check the entry requirement for this MBA? If you meet those than it is a good choice.
But you also can pursue a Bachelor at Oxford Brookes after finishing the fundamental papers or a Master at University of London after finishing P papers.
You have many options and all of them sounds good.February 15, 2016 at 2:09 pm #300569Thanks ……
Sorry if you don’t mind me asking is this Oxford Brookes Degree that requires you to submit a research and analysis project? If yes, I missed their deadline some years ago while I was away due to family death and after I got back I approach them a few times but was denied. Is there another Bachelor at Oxford Brookes that I can still pursue? I will also check on the Master at University of London as you mentioned above. I just wasn’t sure if obtaining a degree at studyinteractive at around 4000 pds was expensive or reasonable.
Thanks a lot!February 17, 2016 at 7:29 am #300765yes, it requires to submit a research and analysis project.
maybe you still can get enrolled into the Master program, worth to check it. unfortunately I am not aware of any other degree program with ACCAFebruary 25, 2016 at 10:07 am #301983AnonymousInactive- Topics: 43

Check the master program offered by UOL external. Ask your US universities and CPA education board if they recognise UOL degree and therefore credits. Even if the UOL master degree is not fully recognised and therefore only partial credits are accepted, you can still find your local cheap community college to finish the rest credits. Then you may take the CPA exam. It could take a lot of work.
At the same time find small accounting jobs to accrue you experience.
Without it, even with your ACCA/CPA/master degree, you may find yourself overqualified.
Also I’d say to improve your English skills, as I find you’ve made several spelling and grammar errors and in an English speaking country such as USA, the potential employer may not be lenient on this respect, perticularly public practice.
Good luck. - AuthorPosts
