Hello, I have two questions related to last exam:
1) Do our solutions have to be exactly the same with model solutions of examiner in order to get full marks?
2) are marks given for workings themselves or calculated answers?
January 23, 2016 at 8:21 am #297497The markers use the “follow through” system whereby if a mistake is made during a question (always likely) then if the resulting incorrect figure is treated correctly in a later part of the answer you will still get the marks.
For example you may have to compute an income tax liability but you get the wrong figure of taxable income so your calculation of tax is different to the model answer, but you will still score the marks if your tax calculation is correctly performed.
In tax there are many situations where this may arise which is why I make comment in my lectures about the importance of workings to show how a figure has been computed and/or what you have then done with that figure.
Marks are indeed awarded for relevant workings! - AuthorPosts
