Non preference share

Hi,
If working out the preference dividend on 5% 50c Preference Shares and the balance on the FS is 345,000, why do we not divide the preference shares by .5 to get the total number of shares to calculate the dividend?

Title is supposed to read Preference Share and Not “Non Preference shares”

I think that if you divide $345,000 by .5, you get to $690,000 and I don’t believe that that is correct as a 5% dividend.
